Ludwig von Mises believed that “In a battle between force and an idea, the latter always prevails.” For over 40 years, the Mises Institute has been driven by that spirit, providing the world with free access to an ever-growing library of bold, uncompromising libertarian scholarship and content.

Our primary mission is education, and we hope you’ll take advantage of our unique resources for students, including our student programs, extensive online library, and virtual programs.

Rothbard Graduate Seminar

If you are a graduate student pursuing a career in academia, policy, or business, our most elite programs may be for you.

Every June, we host our weeklong Rothbard Graduate Seminar. Modeled as a traditional great book seminar, RGS is dedicated to a serious dive into one of the foundational works of the Austrian tradition, such as Mises’s Human Action or Rothbard’s Man, Economy, and State. The structure of the program includes lectures from Mises faculty, followed by student-driven discussion.

In 2026, the subject is Rothbard’s “Science of Liberty,” with a focus on his books Economic Controversies and The Ethics of Liberty.

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
