Economics for Real People reviewed (Washington Witness): “Mr. Callahan leads us gently through the fruit of hundreds of years of reflection on human action with prose accessible to any layman. In fact, he does such an excellent job of being clear, interesting and witty that some readers may think that all economic reading is this straight-forward. Unfortunately it is not. One advantage this book has is that it is unabashedly a presentation of the views of the Austrian School of Economics rather than that of the mainstream “Neoclassical” School. For reasons intimately related to their understanding of the nature of economic reasoning, Austrians generally eschew the mathematical equations and statistics of most economic texts when explaining theory. A happy result of this is that Austrians are generally quite understandable without formal training.”
