1. Membership in Mises@egroups.com is by invitation only. This is a private list for scholars, fellows, staff, and students affiliated with the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and other qualified academics. Please do not forward postings to nonmembers without permission from the author of the post.

2. The Mises space on egroups permits easy posting, subscribing, and unsubscribing. It has a calendar and permits chat. If you have a minute, you will enjoy familiarizing yourself with it at: www.egroups.com. All posts are archived there, accessible only to members. The Mises list is not in the egroups public directory.

3. This is a low-traffic list, with instant posting privileges for all members. Whatever you send to mises@egroups.com goes to the entire list (provided it comes from the email address at which you are subscribed). If five or ten posts arrive in one day, don’t be alarmed; give it a day or two and things will settle down. Traffic may pick up before or after a conference, for example. On the other hand, if a month or two goes by without any posts, don’t feel the need to drum up action.

4. Mises@egroups.com focuses on Austrian economics: sharing news, passing out working papers (attachments are allowed), asking for citations, giving reports on conferences, making announcements, and the like. General academic discussion is welcome, but to keep traffic down, we would encourage extended discussion to go off line. Egroups has a wonderful chat function that permits group chat or private chat.

5. This is not a debate list. Most of us are inundated with email. The last thing we need is another email list, particularly one with heated posts discussing politics. The moderators can assure participants in Mises@egroups.com that this is not the purpose of the list.

6. Members can add anything they want to the Mises@egroups.com calendar, and all are encouraged to do so. The software permits members to tell the calendar whether to send a reminder out to the whole group.

7. Posts sent to Mises@egroups.com should not be cc’d to other lists in the same email; neither should the Mises@egroups.com address be included in any broadcast emails. Remember that ours is a private and not a public list.
