Mises: The Last Knight of Liberalism is much more than a biography of the twentieth century’s great Austrian economist. It is a monumental work which traces Ludwig von Mises’s life and the evolution of his economic thought and places them in the proper historical and cultural context. The book confirms many previously well-known ideas about this eminent author, while it also provides the reader with new, and often surprising, information and data. The erudition in this biography is both fresh and impressive, since the book not only offers a much better understanding of Mises, but also must be considered, on its own merits, to be one of the most significant interpretative contributions on the Austrian School to date.
