What Do Marines Fight For?

What Do Marines Fight For?

I noticed just recently that a new billboard has gone up a few miles from my house. It features a Marine in uniform along with the caption: What Do Marines Fight For?

Never have I been gifted with such a tremendous article prompt.

So, what do Marines fight for?

Well, first of all, here are some things that Marines don’t fight for:

  • Freedom
  • God and country
  • The Constitution
  • Our freedoms
  • Our rights
  • Defense of the country
  • The American people
  • Our safety
  • Their families
  • Honor
  • Preserving the American way of life
  • American borders, coasts, and skies
  • My freedom to write this article

And here are some things that Marines do fight for:

  • A reckless, belligerent, and meddling foreign policy
  • Defense contractors
  • The military/industrial complex
  • A high defense budget
  • The government
  • The president
  • Uncle Sam
  • The Joint Chiefs
  • The Pentagon
  • The Israel Lobby
  • Pride
  • Recognition
  • To be thanked for their service
  • The U.S. empire
  • A paycheck
  • Foreign borders, coasts, and skies
  • Government lies and propaganda
  • Restaurant discounts on Memorial Day and Veterans Day

Not only do Marines fight for these things, they sometimes die for them. Yet, every death was preventable, fruitless, in vain, and pointless.

Americans should ignore all military recruitment billboards, advertisements, and commercials.
