Pure Gold Tattoo

Reuters reports that an entrepreneur in Dubai is now offering 24-carat gold tattoos. For $50 you can get one of the more simple designs but more elaborate ones go for $5,500. The gold body art reportedly lasts for about a week.

Gold is becoming wildly popular and people are finding ever more creative and interesting uses for the malleable yellow metal. Who knows, perhaps one day someone will come up with a really crazy use for gold, like as money or something.

Google Amazes

If any institution can make wind power work, and make it economically viable, it is Google. Announcement of its plans here. “When built out, the Atlantic Wind Connection (AWC) backbone will stretch 350 miles off the coast from New Jersey to Virginia and will be able to connect 6,000MW of offshore wind turbines. That’s equivalent to 60% of the wind energy that was installed in the entire country last year and enough to serve approximately 1.9 million households.”

It’s strange how most people are willing to give the police and the courts the benefit of the doubt and pretend as if the system somehow knows something that we do not know. Anyone hauled off to jail, they believe, probably deserved what is coming to him.

William Barnett II is Professor of Economics and Chase Distinguished Professor of International Business in the College of Business, Loyola University New Orleans, where he has been a member of the economics department since 1974. He is also an Adjunct Scholar at the Ludwig von Mises Institute. He earned a B.B.A. in economics from Loyola University New Orleans in 1967, a Ph.D. in economics from Michigan State University in 1974, and a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans in 1982.
