Statism is Everywhere

Statism is Everywhere

I noted with displeasure a bit of statism in AutoWeek for July 14 of a type I normally associate with the larger media that are more tightly bound to the political class. Rich Ceppos, the publisher, reverses his course of the past 30 years or so (if he’s that old) and thanks Ralph Nader for causing cars to be more the way he (Ceppos) wants them to be than they would have been otherwise. Those of you old enough to remember Nader’s Unsafe at Any Speed (1965) as a current event will be amused to learn that I still own and drive a beautiful 1966 Corvair Corsa!

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
