Separation Anxiety

Separation Anxiety

On his campaign website, presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich writes:

Just as our founders understood the need for separation of church and state, we need to institutionalize the separation of corporations and the state. This begins with government taking the responsibility to establish the conditions under which corporations may do business in the United States, including the establishment of a federal corporate charter which describes corporate rights and responsibilities.

If a politician wrote that government needs to “take the responsibility to establish the conditions under which churches may operate in the United States,” and advocated “the establishment of a federal church charter which describes church rights and responsibilities,” would anyone take him to be an advocate of the separation of church and state?  If not, should anyone take seriously Kucinich’s claim to be an advocate of the separation of corporation and state?

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
