A Message from Jeff Deist
I know your mailbox is stuffed this time of year, but please don’t overlook the letter Lew Rockwell recently sent from the Mises Institute.
Ludwig von Mises had the right ideas, and fought for them. He fought the rising tides of progressivism, socialism, Nazism, and Marxism, not only in Europe but also in his adopted America. Surely we owe ourselves and our children the same fighting spirit Mises showed throughout his life.
That’s why the Mises Institute exists — to promote the ideas of Mises and the other great liberal thinkers of his time, and ours.
If you already made your year-end donation, thank you! We deeply appreciate your support. If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, please take a moment today and make your most generous contribution. Go to mises.org/ye2017.
Do you own stocks, Bitcoin, or other assets that have gone up in value? You may be able to donate them to the Mises Institute, take a full tax deduction for the current market value, and pay no capital gains tax. Talk about a win-win! You can even donate precious metals or unencumbered real estate.
And every donation counts. As many of you know, Lew and Mardi Rockwell started the Mises Institute 35 years ago on their kitchen table — with little money but plenty of determination. They had the blessing of Margit von Mises. They had Murray Rothbard’s enthusiastic support. They had Henry Hazlitt and other luminaries willing to serve on the board of directors.
Fast forward to 2017, and imagine how far our ideas have come!
The Mises Institute doesn’t have billionaire donors. We don’t take government money. We don’t accept foundation grants with strings attached. We operate entirely on donations from individuals like you. So please make your 2017 year-end donation today.
One of our great joys is knowing so many of you personally, and sharing your desire to have peace, sound economics, and liberty prevail. On behalf of everyone at the Mises Institute, we wish you a happy, peaceful, and prosperous New Year!
