The United States is notable for incarcerating a very large portion of its population compared to other countries. Surprisingly, this may increase homicide rates and lead to enclaves of ex-cons which would help explain why so many homicide victims have criminal records.
President Obama has claimed that mass shootings do not occur in other countries. But, the data is clear that they do happen other places, and in places with stringent gun control laws. Worldwide, the state fails to keep its citizens safe.
Refugees no longer stop at the nearest safe haven, but instead are lured into enduring hazardous black-market journeys for a welfare-state payoff. At the same time, states offer high fees and reams of paperwork for those seeking legal passage.
The data shows that many Greek workers work for long hours, and some labor data suggests the Greek economy must be fine. But a closer look shows that hard work isn't enough when many others live off the productivity of the working few.
