By coincidence, just yesterday I discovered Ayn Rand Answers (referenced below by Mr. Tucker) at the library and checked it out.

So far, I’ve been surprised at how much I like Rand on so many things. I had become so used to ignoring some of her warmongering and libertarian-hating followers that I had forgotten how good she can be when she is good.

Here is George Reisman’s Blog reviewing Ayn Rand Answers, The Best of Her Q&A, Edited by Robert Mayhew, New American Library, 2005. x + 241 pp., a book about which I know nothing, but the review might be a landmark in what the phrase “blistering criticism” means. The post gets hotter and hotter as it moves along.

Having got back from the Mises Circle event in Houston just a couple of hours ago, I give you my brief report. I’d guess the crowd was around 150 strong. The atmosphere was great, and the food was yummy.

The Dallas Fed distributes a bi-monthly publication called Southwest Economy. Opening the latest one to appear in my mailbox, for January/February 2006, I began to read the “President’s Perspective,” by the bank’s president Richard W. Fisher, on p. 2. After a couple foggy paragraphs about globalization, its effects, and the new questions it supposedly raises, the statement lists several such questions.

I can’t believe no one else has posted this—and perhaps someone did and I just missed it—but Domino’s founder is trying to establish a community where abortion is prohibited. I’ve talked with Walter Block before about this type of thing, and I believe his only concern was that children born into the community might suffer “unlibertarian” things that they never agreed to.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the CFA Level I Program Curriculum actually has much of Hayek’s economics in it, but it does pay a tribute to him in a highlight box:

Republican Congressman Ron Paul has gone on record with his prediction that the impeachment of George W. Bush is right around the corner but warned that in the meantime the US was slipping perilously close to a dictatorship.

Oftentimes, Peter Drucker’s philosophy on business ethics and corporate social responsibility has been misrepresented to attempt to support the modern, Ivy League-MBA version of the stakeholder theory. Drucker is most certainly not perfect, but always interesting.
