The Economics of American Pickers

As a frequent viewer of The History Channel I have come to appreciate several of its weekly programs, not only for their own sake, but for the many principles of economics demonstrated in each episode. I have written previously of the lessons from the pawn shop, describing a few notable economic concepts one learns from watching Pawn Stars and American Restoration. Another such television show is American Pickers.

I Don’t Care About Common Core

As long as it’s legal to use an alternative to public school, it’s a waste of time time to argue for “reforms” when one’s time is best spent arguing simply for massive defunding.   “But the government uses your money” the reformers claim. The government uses money for lots of things, such as public transportation and   far more important is the battle to ensure that alternative exist and that spending is kept as low as possible.
