Classical Liberalism and the Woke Right Extremists

Writing in Chronicles about his “alleged collaborators in infamy,” Paul Gottfried skewers the tendency to lump together all arguments with which one disagrees, and to treat them as if they were all essentially one and the same argument by dint of the fact that one opposes them all. For example, the “woke left” and “woke right” are lumped together as two types of “woke.” Critics of “woke” lump together paleoconservatives (the traditional right whom they classify as woke right) and critical theory Neo-Marxists (whom they classify as woke left).

Trouble Right Here in Sin City

Labor Day weekend used to draw a big crowd to Las Vegas. Now, not so much. The Vegas downturn is well documented. But, CBS News found the one guy to claim the rumor Vegas’s slowdown is greatly exaggerated. Steven Hill is Sin City’s Harold Hill, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). Following the release of last month’s official federal jobs numbers, President Trump complained that the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics was publishing inaccurate, too-low employment numbers to make Trump look bad. So, Trump fired the commissioner. Well, it looks like that didn’t fix “the problem”—as Trump saw it—because the latest employment numbers are even worse than last month’s numbers.
