NY Gubernatorial Candidate Strikes Again

New York state attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Eliot Spitzer reached a $600K settlement with Macy’s department stores in his race profiling investigation of the company. The store must also train its security guards to avoid racial profiling.

According to the New York Times: “Mr. Spitzer’s investigation found that most of people detained at a sampling of Macy’s stores around the state were black and Latino, a disproportionately high number when compared with the percentage of blacks and Latinos who shopped at those stores, according to the complaint.”

Evidently you are not guilty of stealing if you rob a store and few people of your racial group even shop at that store.

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
