New Mises Essay

The Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics

The new issue of the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics (Summer 1998), the flagship scholarly journal of the Mises Institute, features a never-before-published article by Ludwig von Mises entitled "Monopoly Prices."

The manuscript, kept in the Grove City College Archives, is marked "Revised, July 1944." It is his most in-depth treatment of the issue of monopoly prices, providing even greater detail than the later discussion in Human Action.

The new issue also features:

"The Impossibility of Socialist Economy" by Morgan O. Reynolds

"Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth" by Randall G. Holcombe

"A Geographical Perspective on Austrian Economics" by Pierre Desrochers

"The Recession of 1990: A Comment" By Paul Cwik

Book review by Roger Garrison of The Austrian Theory of Value and Capital: Studies in the Life and Work of Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk by Klaus Hennings.

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
