August Winner

The facebook bomb is going amazingly well, the LvMI facebook page acquired an additional 1,400 fans!

The contest has generated a great response too; numerous fans are making great contributions in the discussions tab. As promised, a Top Discussion and Top Contributor have been chosen. Congratulations to August’s Top Contributor, Derek Blain.

Mr. Blain was chosen as the Top Contributor to the facebook page for his numerous, intelligent comments on multiple discussion threads. As the Top Contributor for the month of August, he will be given a free copy of Origins of the Federal Reserve by Murray N. Rothbard. This book, an excerpt from Rothbard’s A History of Money and Banking in the United States is indispensable in one’s quest to understand the Federal Reserve.

The top overall discussion thread was started by Hugh Wagner.

Keep up the good work as we strive to reach our goal of 20,000 fans by the end of 2009! Remember, weekly winners receive recognition the mises.org blog and monthly winners will receive a copy of the Mises Institute’s latest publication.

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
