Elias Sánchez

Elias Sánchez is a political economist and PhD candidate at King’s College London, where his research examines monetary systems, institutional coordination, and governance in resource-dependent economies, with a regional focus on Latin America. He holds a Distinction MA in Global Political Economy from the University of Leeds, where he graduated top of his cohort.

His published work applies Austrian and causal-realist frameworks alongside critical analysis of how regulatory power shapes economic agency, with particular attention to Bolivia’s political economy. Beyond the Global South, his research extends to European and British regulatory frameworks, examining how institutional design, fiscal policy, and state intervention shape market processes in advanced economies. He is a contributor to the Cobden Centre and writes regularly on monetary policy, market processes, and knowledge dynamics. His Spanish-language commentary on Bolivian fiscal governance appears in Brújula Directa, and he contributes to forums hosted by the Bolivian School of Economists.

Elias’s research interests span neo-extractivism, informal institutions, the political economy of development, and the comparative study of regulatory governance across the Global South and Europe.
