Praise for this Book

Socialism is based on bureaucratic planning. This means a restriction of personal freedom. The dream of equality, a goal even of democratically dressed up socialism, can only be achieved by coercion. With clear logic Thorsten Polleit shows in this important work the aims and ways in which democratic socialism moves toward a globally planned state, dominated by a ‘nomenclatura’. With convincing logic, however, he also presents the free market economy as a superior alternative. A fascinating book!

Jefferson Was Right: The SOTU Address Should Be Written, Not Spoken

The absurdity of those State of the Union Speeches. Like many political traditions accepted as unchangeable or timeless by Americans, the State of the Union Speech is neither required nor wise. First of all, the constitution merely states that the president “give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” It doesn’t say anything about this information being conveyed in a speech.

China’s Emerging Global Leadership Isn’t Just the Result of Subsidies: Entrepreneurship Still Matters in This Market

China has become a global leader in the electric vehicles (EVs) sector, and Western governments are worried that its comparative advantage will become entrenched. Once again, mainstream pundits blame China’s success on government subsidies and unfair competition. This is just a pretext to argue for more government support in a sector which, from the very beginning, has not been driven by genuine consumer demand but by a political green agenda.
