Privatization to save socialism?

That’s the headline on this article from St. Petersburg Times: “Cuba’s leaders see private farmers as key to saving socialism.” It is an interesting read, further documenting the failure of all forms of socialism. Someone in the White House should read this.

But is the notion itself absurd? The undoing of socialism is the solution being discussed here. The idea that this somehow saves socialism is about as silly as the idea of government stimulus saving capitalism.

What To Do With What You Did Over Your Summer Vacation (2009)

That morning drink

Just received an email from DrinkingintheMorning: “While doing research for our show, we stumbled on your blog. We feel we are kindred spirits. Not only did you do a blog post about drinking in the morning (the subject of our show) but you even mentioned one of our Drinks of the Day — guiness and chocolate cake donuts!”

Curses on Copyright

Here is an example of what I write about frequently, copyright renewals that doom a book to obscurity, books that hardly anyone cares about for which the rights owner is not obvious but desperately need to be put online. The case in point is Methodology of the Social Sciences by Felix Kauffman, a member of the Mises Circle (the guy who wrote all the songs too). It was published in German in 1936 and English in 1944. Some family member renewed in 1971, thereby dooming it to an early grave.
