Gifts of Securities:
Please consider transferring appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares that you have owned for more than one year to the Mises Institute, it is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give.
You will receive an immediate income tax deduction for the value of the securities on the date of transfer, no matter what you originally paid for them, and you will pay no capital gains tax. For example, if you bought shares of stock years ago for $3,000 that are now worth $10,000, the Mises Institute will enjoy the tremendous benefit of a $10,000 donation. You will have no capital gains tax liability for the donated shares, and you may be able to claim a charitable deduction on your tax return! Your original $3,000 investment does so much good, while keeping money out of the hands of the IRS.
