Joseph A. Weglarz

Joseph A. Weglarz is Lecturer II in the Department of Economics at the University of Detroit Mercy. He came to the university from Walsh College in 2007, where he was an Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics, Director of the Master of Science in Finance program, and the Director of the Walsh College Center of the Michigan Council on Economic Education (MCEE). He was the recipient of the Crystal Apple Award in 2009 from MCEE in recognition of his significant contributions in furthering higher education in Michigan. Weglarz also has extensive experience in the securities industry at three Wall Street brokerage firms as an investment advisor and portfolio analyst. His research interests are in the areas of monetary and capital theory, economic and financial history, and the history of economic thought. He is the editor of A Student’s Guide to Economics. Weglarz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University and an MBA from Wayne State University. His is currently writing a “Study Guide” to accompany Murray N. Rothbard’s Economic Thought Before Adam Smith and Classical Economics: An Austrian Perspective on the History of Economic Thought.
