Making of an Austrian Economist Seminar

On Thursday, November 12, Drs. Joseph Salerno and Patrick Newman will host a Member-only, online seminar focused on their new book, Murray N. Rothbard: The Making of an Austrian Economist. This book is a landmark contribution to the history of the Austrian School, describing Rothbard’s writing of Man, Economy, and State, and his development into a leading Austrian economist.

Prominent topics to be covered include Rothbard’s early years at Columbia University, his contributions to production theory and the theory of interventionism, his relationship with Milton Friedman and other contemporaries, and his fulfillment of Mises’s goal to deduce the entire edifice of economic theory from the action axiom. The case for Rothbard as Mises’s heir will also be discussed.

Drs. Salerno and Newman will each give a 20-30 minute presentation followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer period. The seminar link will be emailed to attendees prior to the event.
