"Antimarxismus" [Anti-Marxism]. Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv. 21:2(April 1925)266-93. Marx's labor theory of value has been thoroughly refuted by Bohm-Bawerk. His other doctrines are equally unsound. But not only does Marxism have to be rejected. So do all attempts to interfere with the market. Criticisms of Marxism based on nonindividualist assumptions, e.g., Wemer Sombart's work, are of limited value in spite of their erudition. Reprinted in Critique of Interventionism.

Strongly repudiates all types of interference with the market. There is no third way between capitalism and socialism. Particularly noteworthy is Mises's discussion of the anti-Marxist work of Wemer Sombart, a personal acquaintance and strong ideological opponent. Reprinted in Critique of Interventionism.

Review of Eduard Heimann's Die sittliche Idee des Klassenkampfes und die Entartung des Kapitalismus [The Ethical Idea of the Class Struggle and the Decline of Capitalism]. Zeitschrift für die gesamte Staatswissenschaft. 85(1928)167-68. Eduard Heimann deserves praise for being more aware of the problems of economic calculation than most socialists. The idea that class cooperation and 'good feeling' can solve economic problems, which Heimann holds along with other religious socialists, is erroneous. Incidentally, Heimann had a high opinion of Mises.

Archiv für Sozialwissenschaft und Sozialpolitik. 61:3(1929)465-512. A very important piece, probably the most important of Mises's earlier articles on methodology. "Sociology" was Mises's earlier name for what he later called praxeology, i.e., a deductive science of human action. He here criticizes those who deny the need for a deductive approach, attempting to reduce economics to history. These include Sombart and Arthur Vierkandt. Included in Epistemological Problems of Economics .

"Verstaatlichung des Kredits?" [Nationalization of Credit?]. Zeitschrift für Nationalökonomie. 1:3(1929)430-439. A plan to make credit available through government provision, in order to promote increased investment, has aroused much discussion. It is unsound and the work of monetary cranks. Included in 1976 German-language reprint of Critique of Interventionism and also in the 1977 English translation.
