Founder: Austrian Economics

He first took on the historicists to show that there is such a thing as economic theory and then his book Principles of Economics forged a new path for understanding value, utility, and price.
He not only kicked off the Marginal Revolution on the Continent. He made a revolutionary contribution to monetary theory to show that its origins were not with the state or social compact but with the market.
Even today, his work holds up. It's no wonder that Mises said that Menger made him an economist.
