Politicians and pundits have a blind spot when it comes to international economic transactions. They ignore a portion of trade! In particular, they ignore trade in claims on future income—that is, stocks and bonds.
Axel Kaiser writes that Chileans’ “advantage is due to an historical accident, which is now coming to an end” and predicted that “Chile will show, in the coming years, that it is nothing more than any other Latin-American country.”
Since no specific victim and no specific crime has been identified, this is no case of reparation as exists under real justice. It is simply a transfer of wealth from one group to another based on some sort of general "exploitation."
