It is troubling that after a decade of an economic expansion, the US government is still spending money as it does during and immediately following a recession. It is as if the economy is now in a state of permanent "stimulus."
The key to a high quality of life is a free economy devoted to trade and entrepreneurship. Contrary to what we're told about Europe's welfare states, more government social spending doesn't cause economic prosperity.
If the media cared much about the plight of small business owners, we'd see many more stories about how government regulations, taxes, and mandates make life more difficult for both owners and their employees.
