Purchase options and add-ons
The New Brand You is the field guide to standing out and succeeding in the new professional landscape transformed by the pandemic. In the new world of virtual, remote and flexible working, everyone needs to consider carefully their personal brand and power, and many will need to hit the 'reset' button.
We are all on camera now - we all need to be producers of our own brand narrative. Like it or not, in a digitally driven, more competitive, more global world of employment, the reality is that you need to consider your personal brand. You have no choice, if you don't brand yourself, other people will. And not in the way you want to be seen. That, or you will simply become invisible, and that's almost never good.
The New Brand You uses ten tried and tested strategies from the commercial world of branding and applies them to individual brand creation. Strategies such as defining your positioning, researching your target audience and taking steps to ensure you always stay relevant, are equally applicable to individuals as they are to products and companies. It's not about sticking some slightly skewed version of your name on social media, it's about smart positioning and successful tactics.
Featuring high profile success stories and accompanied by an online Personal Brand Finder, an assessment tool that measures psychological preferences and aligns with the ten strategies in the book, this book will help you to target the most relevant strategies for you. It will include examples, exercises and callouts to make it a quick read and easy to action immediately.
Getting your personal branding right will give you the edge in the new age of work.

1.“If you don’t brand yourself, other people will:” Kaputa makes the argument that you need to take control of what you want your brand to stand for, or you’re putting something important in the hands others. No doubt other people won’t brand you in the way you want to be branded.
2. “Branding is about subtraction:” Kaputa makes the point that most people position themselves as a Jack or Jill of all trades. It’s like a product that has too many features and claims that it stands for nothing. You must curate your brand and be ruthless about simplifying how you communicate your brand idea and your personal brand narrative. She points out that an “I can do everything brand” confuses people. You must settle on a singular positioning idea.
3. “Marketers attach an idea to a product; you need to attach an idea to yourself
Kaputa points out that you need to attach a unique positioning idea in the minds of your “customers.” If you’re in a company, your customers are your boss, colleagues and anyone you need to influence to reach your goals. You need to clearly identify how you are different from others who do what you do and relevant in the current marketplace.
The New Brand You: How to Wow in the New World of Work is a must-read for anyone looking to build a successful career or business in today's competitive marketplace. This book offers practical and actionable advice for developing a personal brand that will help you stand out in a crowded job market.
One of the strengths of this book is that it is written in a clear and concise manner, with plenty of real-world examples and case studies to illustrate Kaputa's points. The book is divided into easy-to-follow chapters that cover everything from defining your personal brand to creating a brand strategy and promoting your brand online. One of my favorite chapters, Chapter 15: Customizing Your Verbal Identity Through Names, Story, Taglines, Point of View and Voice makes it clear that in her view, your voice needs to be heard. She talks about your voice as a brand and the power of the podcaster. If you are a podcaster or plan on launching a podcast the message here is your voice is often the primary means of communication with your audience. As a result, it's important to develop a speaking style that is both authentic and engaging.
The author emphasizes the importance of being authentic and true to yourself when developing your personal brand, which I found particularly refreshing. She also provides practical advice on how to leverage social media and other online tools to promote your brand and reach a wider audience.

The most outstanding concept I was left with after reading the book is the importance of simplification in a brand. She emphasizes the need for the brand to make it simple and easy to understand what the service or product is giving. Fortunately I did this and she praised me for focusing on Simple and Easy. I read her book and found it motivational and filled with additional things for me to consider as I continue to build my practice. I respect her emphasis on being truthful and not to only focus on the financial aspect of success, but to give equal importance to personal growth.
My relationship with branding has taken on a whole new meaning.
Thank you Catherine!
