I started out as a libertarian of the Constitutional conservative variety, moved into minarchism, and then ultimately anarcho-capitalism (with some special reservations/concerns, hence my username).

If none of the information which led me down this path had been available, I imagine that my dispositional sympathies for monarchy and/or aristocracy would have led me to become a so-called "reactionary" of that sort. I've always had a deep-seated pathological hatred of the cult of "equality" which defines the Left, so I'm quite sure I would never have become a Leftist.

It probably has more to do with the way I view "intellectual" thinking. I doubt many would consider me a libertine or ultra-conformist by the way I live my life

Until I was victimized, I would have been happy to support a highly socialist regime in the blind belief that more people were better off that way. I guess I should be thanking the guy, because it was the sudden shocking realization that I had during the first of those incidents: "SAY. I walked into this all by myself, and look, there's nobody around to protect me. I guess I'm really on my own, when it comes right down to it" that set me on the path to libertarianism.

Weird thing to say, but I'm glad that happened when I was young enough to let it inform my deepest convictions, instead of prompting me to blame the whole world for my problem and start looking around for restitution therefrom.

In retrospect, I guess this would make me some type of ultra-conformist "conservative" (in some crazy dialectical way) libertine.

I'd still be the angsty, confused "social democrat" that I was in High School/early college. Endlessly seeking ways to rationalize how government regime X was not 'true socialism', constantly worshiping cooperatives/syndicalism/latest scheme as the perfect solution to the economy, and cleverly laughing at anybody crazy enough to deny the fact that the US economy is the perfect exemplar of the crimes of capitalism.

I'd probably be happily ensconced in some circlejerk Amen corner on the SomethingAwful forums or 4chan (and visit no other sites or opposing viewpoint), dependent on the popular opinions therein, no need to critically examine and challenge my viewpoints or read other viewpoints or refutations on a daily basis, no desire to ensure that my premises and logic hold up to any challenges, endlessly regurgitating the same prejudices and bromides day after day after day after day, desperately telling myself I'm on the cutting edge and right about everything...not to mention having a bizarre obsession with that evil Ayn Rand, the obvious God of all conservatives and capitalists, who I'd have nightmares about.

My foreign policy views would still be non-interventionist, however, since my disturbed reaction to Dubya's wars and the Orwellian GOP atmosphere of '02 to '05 was one of the major catalysts to making me more conservative/classical liberal.

Unless somebody could dupe me into supporting a war because a Democrat approved it.

ive got 2 final exams this week, another test and a few assignments. I dont proclaim to be an expert of religion so im going to have to read about the 'render unto caesar' part before i argue back when i have time (possibly agree haha).

to your other parts:

can we not agree that God can be perceived as the state? He is referred to king and lord afterall. Can we also not say that Jesus' main objective on earth is to teach man right from wrong? Right and wrong as defined by God, the state, which could also be called laws. I mean what are commandments if not laws/mandates? Jesus even went so far as to tell people what would happen to them if they broke the laws of God, straight to hell. Yes, Jesus wasnt going to pull you by the ear and toss in you in the fire pit of hell immediately after committing a crime. So hes not 'forcing' you here on earth, but he will get you after you die and then force you to spend eternity in hell. Time is relative, I'd say the rath of God is quicker when compared to eternity than a trail by the state in the course of a life.

'libertarianism has no problem with socialism as long as it is voluntary' - as stated above, how voluntary is it at the threat of an eternity in hell? is that not the barrel of a gun? or satan's pitchfork?
