Can anyone tell me the name of the film, after reading your posts, i feel really excited to see this film. I am a WAR Movie fan, so that's come for it too. After watching 1/3 of war movie of hollywood, i found only one message. And the message is, we're not human, we're americans, canadian, japanese, chinese, vietnamese, russian etc.

Anyone seen this film yet? I'ts about rapes of fellow female soldier in the US military. I've had several of my liberal friends recommend it to me and it's pissing me off. One reason, and this is something I've noticed recently, is because while my more conservative friends know I'm not a Republican or even a conservative, liberals seem to lack this ability to differentiate and simply assume anyone who isn't a Democrat is a Republican. And so, they push this film on me as something I 'need' to see to cure of me of my right wing war mongering, which they don't seem to oppose under their shining prince. Second, it pissed me off because what idiot thought you could train men to participate willingly in the most barbaric act of mass murder known to man - war- and still expect them to act civilized and 'professional' in the barracks? "Hey kid, your job is to kill and murder people we target and to refer to those who we murder but don't target as collateral damage, and you need to be okay with that. Oh, by the way, don't rape that chick next to you."

A couple people have pushed this on me on Facebook and I've not commented as I have above because I think it's highly certain that they wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about. Which is sad and pathetic.

I hear you. It's like watching someone put their hand in a bear trap--you get angry because you know they could have avoided hurting themselves and experiencing pain. Unfortunately, the military preys on infantilized 18-year-olds who've just gone through more than a decade of government brainwashing programs, so I must say my pity overcomes my anger at their poor decision-making. What bothers me about your friends is that I assume they don't hold the same amount of furious indignation for the way male soldiers are treated as indisposable. It's always a "look who has it worse/is being more oppressed" type thing when it comes to leftists and men vs. women. It is truly a great victory over us all that socialist/government programming has divided the population in such a way, especially since the bonds between men and women can be some of the strongest bonds conceivable.

Realize that most people have a very naive view of the military and think that the business of war strengthens and empowers men, even when acknowledging PTSD and TBI. People are also completely unaware of how little the military court system tries the violent criminals in their ranks, while enthusiastically ridding itself of dangerous marijuana users.

It sounds like a terrible time. Watching the documentary, I mean. Rape of female servicemembers is out of control and ridiculous, its a symptom of a sick culture. A lot of it happens in entry-level school environments because they put students in what amounts to extremes of indentured servitude, where you could literally be sent to jail for disrespecting someone of higher rank (everyone is higher rank than a recruit, even civilians [technically cadets/midshipman outrank enlisted men but in practice they are one-half paygrade above recruit]). and with only a handful of instructors per platoon of recruits, these places with gender-integrated training are just asking for problems. It happens in the fleet too, I hear, but I was never in a unit with women so I cant tell you about that. I have just heard that its epidemic. I do know if you go the chow halls overseas at midrats (midnight rations) you will see sncos and nonrates, males and females, sitting alone, together, eating ice cream staring at each other googly-eyed.

Don't forget the massive losses in wealth and the absolutely enormous amount of opportunity destroyed on both sides. I have never heard a single pundit or politician mention the amount of wealth destoryed by the ending of the life of one young (The old are normally too cynical to play war.) person.
