I could be wrong, but it seems to me that JJ is becoming increasingly antagonistic - snarky, bullying, etc. - in the main forum. I, for one, don't appreciate that behavior at all, and I don't think I'm alone there. I can see no good reason for it, so it baffles me, but I'll refrain from speculation for the time being. Regardless, I think his behavior is negatively impacting the quality of the main forum - much moreso than that of e.g. Freedom4Me73986.

Hm, and I thought I was the only one thinking so.

The Regression theorem is a memetic equivalent of the Theory of Evolution. To say that the former precludes the free emergence of fiat currencies makes no more sense that to hold that the latter precludes the natural emergence of multicellular organisms.

It's possible. Hard to tell with the internet. I can say, he is the only extant poster that can really rub me the wrong way sometimes- for whatever my two cents are worth.

JJ certainly doesn't seem to be taking the advice given to him by Daniel Sanchez. Maybe JJ figures he's all bark and no bite?

To be fair, and not turn this into a "grumbling thread" he does have many pros. He supplies useful links and helps with the threads in his own way, and seems to genuinely like the Mises intitute. Anyway, that's all for me unless the dude enters this thread and wants answers

Well I, for one, would appreciate some kind of response from the moderation/administration of this forum. I don't think the "Member Issues" section is supposed to be just a safety valve for letting off steam away from the main arena.

Let me also state for the record that, in my honest opinion, any benefits that people think JJ provides with his presence in no way justify his egregious behavior.

I'm now going to publicly call on John James to state exactly what end(s) he has in mind when engaging in the kind of behavior that prompted the creation of this thread. If John James does not respond to this request within one week, I will add the text "A Request for John James" to my signature and embed a link to this post within it. This link will then stay in my signature until John James responds to the request publicly and to my satisfaction.

Sorry, John, but I don't see any irony in the thread that Triknighted started about me. I responded in his thread (I honestly didn't see it for a while) and he has yet to write back. You have yet to respond here.

I'll simply add 2 cents, since I recently had my first run in with John.

The links are often useful. He doesn't take sarcastic criticism well, but then who does? I know I don't.

In my "spat" with him, I could definitely have behaved myself better, I took his tone in an offensive way, and instead of demonstrating that I had more knowledge than he gave me credit for, I decided to puff up my chest and brag... Not very mature on my part. Would Mises or Rothbard have said... "But I know a lot, look at my books?" No, they'd show it by being able to eloquently and effectively argue about the specific content.

I'm personally not a fan of banning people, especially if their intend to and actually do contribute useful information. I believe John does this. I haven't found that it interferes with my personal goals of having relatively high intellectual level of discussion with others.

So, in summary, John, love the links, and let some stuff slide by.

Sorry for the late response to this. I'll just note that 1) I think JJ does contribute positively to the forum at times, and 2) I've never advocated him being permanently banned. My point in starting this thread was to raise my objections to his behavior in a way that would hopefully be more visible to the people who manage this forum.
