  • Re: Private National Defense

I believe Len is right here, in that, Hugo Chavez is concerned that the US will do to Venezuela what they did to Iraq i.e. claim the country is filled with terrorists and WMDs, then invade and steal the oil. You are only as free as the most powerful person or entity allows you to be. If some powerful...

  • Re: On immigration: Reply to Hoppe

I think that a letter/article that I wrote on 2006-09-10 addresses one of the important issues mentioned here. • Re: Thriving? R U KIDDING ME?

[quote user="gethky"] "With your critique of the Murphy article you yourself applied a causal realist approach, which is actually very Austrian." - Torsten Yes, I am an advocate of Austrian economics, but I am also a realist. I contend that most Austrians don't admit that China...

  • Re: Thriving? R U KIDDING ME?

[quote user="gethky"] "No, Murphy does analyze where the new jobs come from." - Inquisitor I don't have Murphy's PIG book so I found his 2006 article on outsourcing ( http://www.mises.org/story/2052 ) in which he claims that good jobs have increased during the present era...

  • Re: Thriving? R U KIDDING ME?

Purchasing goods from China will stimulate further investments there. Not purchasing goods from a country will discourage it. So I'm getting the point you are trying to make Gethky. It is however that purchasing goods at cheaper prices (from another country) will lead to lower living and operational...
