Banking Collapse by Bank Runs or Hyperinflation - Which is Better and Why?

Would it be better for the current fractional reserve banking system to collapse by bank runs, or by hyperinflation?  I think for the common man that collapse due to bank runs would be better because it would spare him the price instability of hyperinflation, but I'm not sure.  What do you think?
