I remember reading about a judge on Wikipedia who might have wrote a book that I'm interested in reading. I think he was French and from the 19th century and he suggested people should not corraborate with the authority if they do not like it. I hope that's enough info cause I can't remember much more.
I wonder if it's de Montesqieu?

I cannot be caged. I cannot be controlled. Understand this as you die, ever pathetic, ever fools.
Irenicus' Diaries.
It wasn't de Montesquieu. This judge's wikipage challeneged the citizens to stop voluntarily giving up power to authority as a way to dismantle government. He would be popular here.

Henry David Thoreau has a similar philosophy. He expounds a similar philosophy that the individual can overcome the state by not cooperating with it. Are there similar authors with the same beliefs?
I'm betting it was Etiene de la Boetie. In fact, I'm sure.
