Hawks and doves (the prisoner dilema game)

Even though my history teacher has a conflicting perspective on economics and politics with me, occasionally, he shows something interesting.  This is one of those times.

Hawks and Doves (the prisoner dilema game, adapted for the forum):

    Rules:

    • The game is played in rounds.  Points are totaled at the end of each round.  (and are cumulative)
    • One round = 5 days or when war is declared, whichever comes first.
    • Each round, you will need to make three decisions:
    • 1. Do you want to build two factories, two missiles, or one factory or missile?  Pm the person leading the game your choice.
    • 2. Do you want to negotiate?  This is done by pming others.
    • 3. Do you want to declare war?  Post on the forum that you are declaring war.
    • If war is declared, it is war waged individually on all other people.  In the event of war, the attacking nation has a number equal to all of its missiles it has accumilated, minus one.  The number is compared to the total number of missiles each other person has. The person with the higher number gains points equal to the difference, while the person with the lower number looses points equal to the difference.  A new round starts, and all factorys/missiles are lost.
    • If five days are completed, each person gets 2 points per factory, 1 point per missile, and 25 bonus points for maintaining peace.
    • The object of the game is to earn as many points as possible.

    Forum specific rules:

Each day counts as one realtime day.
You must pm me whether you are creating bombs or missiles or both each day, or, you can lay out a strategy.
When a round ends, I will tally up the points.

Here is what happened when this game was played in class:

First round: Peace ;) Some groups produced more missiles/factories then others
Second round: War.  Our group attacked, against my better judgement.
Third round: War.  Our group attacked, against my better judgement.
Fourth round: ?????? Will happen next Tuesday ??????

So... any questions? Comments? Want to play?
