"Keep track of who owns a gun!" is a prerequisite for "Round up and confiscate everyone's gun."

Besides, owning a gun is kind of useless against the State anyway.  If 100 armed thugs decide to assault you, then a gun isn't going to help much.

I have my own blog at FSK's Guide to Reality. Let me know if you like it.

If you're alone, yes, but what if you band up with other gun owners and even disgrunted members of armed forces? Prevention of something like American Revolution is the true purpose of these laws.

The state's monopoly on force and coercion is hindered when its citizens bear arms. So the state will constantly seek was of acheiving a pure monopoly

Whoever wants peace among nations must seek to limit the state and its influence most strictly. -Ludwig von Mises

I disagree. It's all in how you use it. Of course if they surround you and you're not looking to lose to the other 99 left, then give yourself up, but in a situation where you're on the run or what have you, a gun would prove quite useful.

existence is elsewhere
