The common anonymous user has 80,000+ posts.  I suspect 75,000+ of them are spam.  Almost all of the user blogs are loaded with tons of spam entries as they get posted without moderation.  Some blog posts have hundreds and hundreds of comments, all spam.

Can

1. we turn off anonymous blog posting, as we have turned off anonymous posting on the media gallery?

2. I have permissions to clean up the media gallery spammy comments?

We urgently need to turn off anonymous posting on blogs.

If I can acquire the permissions, I will clean up the media gallery as well.  You can have the permissions back when I am done the cleanup.

I have made you an admin.  Do you think you can make the nessesary changes yourself?

I have some database scripts I can run to cleanup the spam myself.

Ok, I got all the media comment spam deleted.

It *looks* like I stopped the blog comment spam as well.  For your reference (in case I broke anything) this is what I did.

At this url

http://mises.org/Community/controlpanel/BlogAdmin/DefaultPermissionList.aspx

I unchecked

EVERYONE under the comments column.

This style of permissions is a little wonky, so I'm not sure if I need to enable all other groups to blog comment, or not.  I'm thinking everyone registered, is a "registered user" and thus should still be fine to comment.

You can take away the admin permissions unless you want me to hack away at the blog comment spam.  I can probably do a little each day.

Thanks HL.  Hopefully I didn't break anything, and this should lower our load.

HL, spam cleanup in blogs looks super good.  I don't need the Admin super powers any longer.

Thanks!
