UN wants 'flood of drugs' in Afghanistan to devalue opium

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/may/25/drugs-united-nations-afghanistan

"Costa said his request that the World Food Programme buy only Afghan wheat had been rejected by "free market ayatollahs who think political stability is less important than free market principles"."

The whole article is a bit wierd and has plenty of screwed up reasoning, and I am not sure if the term ayatollah (not capitalized) is being used to refer to actual religious officials, or government officials.

Possible "free market' Ayatollah:

Poor Costa:  He is deluded by the idea that political stability can be obtain without free market or economic stability.  They are one and the same.  Until he and his ilk accept this principle countries will continue to have both political and economic stability.
