I am currently starting to get ready for college (1.5 years to go) and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences to impart with regard to the Philosophy, Politics and Economics Degrees or their equivalents (I know Yale, for example, calls its similar program Ethics, Politics and Economics, although I doubt my 3.75 GPA (will be at 3.8 or higher by the end of the year, I think) will get me there. How useful is this major? Is it enjoyable? If you got one where did you go and what are you doing now? Would you recommend it?
Why not do it at GMU?
To darkness I condemn you...
Jon Irenicus: Why not do it at GMU?
I don't think they have it. I couldn't find it on their site. I'm really not sure where I'll go/get in mostly because I'm not sure where my grades will be at the end of the year when I'll be getting ready to apply. However, a PPE degree isn't too common in the US, but since schools are adopting it and I was wondering what any of you guys who have some experience with it thought?
They do. Just look it up. It's usually organised by Boettke.
Come to do it at Oxford here in Blighty
Also: other good unis like Durham, York, Warwick have such a course
The difference between libertarianism and socialism is that libertarians will tolerate the existence of a socialist community, but socialists can't tolerate a libertarian community.

LOL, do they take Americans?
Nerditarian:LOL, do they take Americans?
Oh for sure. When I got shown round Oxford it was by a Philosophy and French girl from the States.
That'd ruin it for me.
Because she studied french or because she was from the states?
While I'm at it, does anyone else have any words of wisdom regarding the PPE degree?
Latter. I'm not big on American accents with few exceptions.
Don't get me started on Brummie accents!
