ALL:

First post, so my apologies if this ground has been thoroughly plowed already..., Barack Obama said last night that there is now broad consensus amongst reputable economists from both the left and the right that the federal government has a role to play in the current economic crisis. I have to wonder whether he has even been exposed to the Austrian School? He waxed further, albeit in a rather careful manner I'll admit, on FDR, the Great Depression, and how the "New New Deal" we've been hearing all sorts of speculation about from the MSM, is the best prescription for what ails us. Essentially, although not outright rejecting this idea, he certainly implied a non-interest in pursuing this path -- opting for more discussion, a more contemporarily tailored approach.

Overall, it gave me pause..., maybe this guy really will listen to reason? Maybe someone who knows how to reach his ear should use this next two months trying to get the sound money idea a seat at the table?

I don't know. Just wondering what others here might have picked up (...if anyone here even bothered to watch...)

Tim

I was flipping through channels when the interview was on and stopped to briefly listen to him. However, when he stated that he thought Lincoln was a great man and how he thought his ideas and way of governing were the greatest, I changed the channel.

I guess he missed the 100 signatures of reputable economists who were against the bailout?

Welcome Tim.  It would be a lot more interesting if he said he would close the government by the end of Feb.  or if he said he would stop the wholesale slaughter of Afghanis and Iraqis.

Don't get your hopes up.  It sounds like you are looking too hard for some indication that a politician saviour will rescue you.  Obama would be shot if he tried to do anything ethical.  He didn't get to sit on the throne and deliver NWO speeches by being a closet libertarian.

It's the great talent of Obama to be whatever people want him to be.  It's like being entranced.  Pinch yourself.

The guy is either clueless when it comes to economics or he is simply in it for himself.  Either way, there is no way he will become interested in Austrian economics.  I am sure he heard Ron Paul debate.  And I am sure he dismissed his arguments out of hand.  He is one of the 99% of the people out there that I believe to be stupid.  In other words, unable or unwilling to listen to new ideas.  A sheep.  Baaaaah.

At most, 5% of the population would need to stop complying to bring down the government.
