Ron Paul was interviewed by Alex Jones this week. He makes great points about the boldness and rhetoric of the Obama camp. He also points out that Obama is the chosen man of the establishment, and though he ran as a "man of the people," he raised and spent a grotesque amount of money in his campaign. He mentions that Obama has been gunning for this power grab for a very long time. Ron talks about the plans for a world reserve currency, world regulations, and world government -- meaning, a new monetary order. Remember way back when ...... when people were making fun of those who opposed a New World Order because they understood where all of this hyper-centralization was taking us? Go into your closet and get out your tin foil hats, because they are going to be hip again.

The global crisis was orchestrated in order to bring forth more socialism, intervention, and bondage. Now Obama, the establishment's man, will use the financial crisis to take control over everything that is left somewhat free from government intervention. He will intensify and grow the Bush security state, military state, and police state. His main goals will be to take control of natural resources and money. This will be the purpose of the New World Establishment. Paul also suggested that "any escalation could be facilitated by false flag events such as Gulf of Tonkin style incidents."

As Ron Paul notes, McCain was selected as an "acceptable" backup man, should Barack Obama's establishment-backed campaign fail. Barack Obama has been groomed to lead America into the New World Order. The fact that libertarians - even on this blog - once hailed Obama as a potential libertarian champion, is frightening.

I read her comments on the Lew Rockwell blog quite a bit and can't help but think she is probably the silliest and overtly emotional person on there. IT IS ALL A GRAND CONSPIRACY, AND THEY KNOW SOCIALISM WON'T WORK BUT THEY WANT TO MAKE EVERYONE STARVE AND DIE BECAUSE THEY ARE SATAN'S DISCIPLES AND THEY CAN'T POSSIBLY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE BENIGN AND NOT MALICIOUS IN THEIR INTENTIONS!

I had the exact same reaction when reading that post. It's good to know there are other people out there who think she's going off the deep end. This is the kind of writing that would make me embarrassed to refer my non-libertarian friends to LRC despite the fact that there's so much great content on that site. My guess is that because of the security and comfort that the LRC community provides, the blog has become a forum for ad hominem attacks and inflammatory rhetoric without the substance to back it up. Sure, many of the posts are interesting and worthwhile, but I have to hold my nose far more than I would like to when I read the blog. I don't see how such language furthers the libertarian cause.

Telpeurion,

I don't find her suspicions to be beyond the bounds of possiblity. Of course, she doesn't provide specific evidence but such evidence may be hard to come by.

Do you have any reasons for your outright dismissal of her claims? Or is it just some intuition that people just couldn't be that conniving and evil?

It is that I have yet to see a person who advocates such policies because they know they are wrong. Isn't "evil" usually associated with doing something you KNOW is wrong? Perhaps it is because I don't have some divine reason for being an advocate of liberalism... The Third Way being advocated around the world is in full force today, yet we are still alive; obviously not performing to potential, but still alive. You are free so long as you play by the RULES. I am not an apologist for things as they are, but shouldn't we be concentrating on how to survive in an illiberal world?

I don't think not knowingly doing evil precludes not knowingly doing harm. Amoral individuals have no real concept of morality for instance. And sociopaths are attracted to positions of power...

I love this crap.  Like the people who argue that Bush was too stupid to do anything conspiratorial, and yet somehow, he conspired to get America into two wars, one with a country who had no reason to be invaded at all, and not only did he get consent from Congress and the people, he actually fooled the UN!

Oh, but Bush isn't evil.  He's too stupid to be evil.  He's just a big screwup, right?

Do you really believe that all of the economists at the FED are morons, and don't know that the Austrian theories on capital have consistently been right in predicting major economic events?  You obviously did not see the video interview I posted with a former KGB agent describing the operations they ran.

So go on believing that you're a slave by accident, a bunch of politician do-gooders accidentally maintain and increase the state, because they are too dumb to do the right thing.  Absolute rubbish.

Btw, Karen DeCoster is hot.

PS, did you bother to listen to the interview?

Where did I say they are stupid? All of these people are convinced they are doing the right thing, sure there are pockets of groups here and there who do desire malicious ends, but a global conspiracy view is just unfounded, and Mises felt the same way. I wonder if you would be in favor of a "conspiracy" to overthrow the government? Would not others view you as "evil" too?

Oh...people can be REALLY STUPID.

I mean, look at Microsoft. They're focusing on "piracy" when they're should be focusing on their One True Enemies, free and opens source software vendors. Every time M$ spend money on some BULLSHIT "anti-piracy" campaign, the open source crowd get the last laugh. Driving potential customers into the hand of your competitors got to be the worst business strategy ever invented by man.

Do not attribute malice to wrongdoings when it can be attributed to stupidity because stupidity, like the universe, knows no bound.

I guess I always take the blog with a grain of salt because it's a blog - folks writing off the top of their heads.

That said, I can see how this could be read as asserting an overt conspiracy, but I read it differently.  I read it in line with the pursuits of what Gatto calls the "true believers."  It doesn't have to be a closed-door thing.  If the folks that have the most influence believe that something is in the "best interest" of "society," they can fervently pursue that objective in a way that could appear conspiratorial.  Just because it isn't , doesn't mean it isn't dangerous.  Then, of course, there are cynics and profiteers in the mix, who have their own objectives.

If someone were to write, as someone probably has, that libertarian/anarchist/Austrian thinkers and writers are "conspiring" to "create a free and prosperous society," would they be wrong?  How is that different than "conspiring" to expand the powers of redistributive governments with explicit social aims?  Sure, they are talking about using coercion to get there, but most of the folks I know who think this crap is a good idea, have the semi-purest of intentions.  I think liberalism is better for everyone, which happens to include me, materially and psychically.  My Marxist buddies think the same of their theories.

I guess these can be considered "conspiracies" in the same sense that the debate can be considered a "battle" of ideas.  Guerillas achieve common ends, you know?

Libertarians would be better served by reading more Sun Tzu and less Dilbert.

The first step to overcoming our ideological enemy, is understanding it.  The governments of the world did not accidentally fall off the gold standard, they did not accidentally form the UN.  The US government contrived the impetus for the Vietnam war deliberately, something if you told people that 10 years ago, they would have called you a kook, and now is a matter of historical fact.

Just because they do not believe that they are evil does not mean that they are not conspiring.

Conspiracies happen. There are very poweful people in the world. Is it not possible that such people are conspiring as we speak?

I agree that specific evidence is lacking. However, it is silly to dismiss DeCoster's interpretation outright. Why do you do so with such scorn? Is your only objection that she merely presents inferential evidence?

We also just happened to trip and fall into WW1 (the Lusitania was running guns) and WW2 (Pearl Harbor).  And yeah, we had to drop the bomb on Japan twice after they had already surrendered (conditionally).  And yeah, Vietnam and Korea were important to "further the cause of freedom" and prevent the spread of communism (but Vietnam fell anyway, but we didn't).  And wasn't it a small group of power brokers who met in an secret meeting at a secret location by traveling on a secret train with aliases that hammered out the power sharing of the Federal reserve.  I believe that defines conspiracy.  Rule throughout history has been defined by conspiracy.  The only thing that obscures it and fools good folks is that it is cloaked in the whore's dress of democracy.

If you don't know, lean towards the conspiracy theory.  Even if you are wrong, you will preserve more freedom.  I would rather be surrounded by conspiracy nuts than the sheep that voted in our President Elect thinking that he would lead them to utopia.

Nice post J4L.  Indeed, if you're not a conspiracy theorist, then you must be a coincidence theorist.

This is why DeCoster is awesome.

I Hate Barney Frank

I can't be the only one who cannot even bear a 10-second audio bite from Barney Frank, who has to be the most inarticulate gasbag in congress.

And that's just the warmup!  Smile

No, it's calling a toad a toad.  It's pointing out the Frank is in fact a vacuous moron, who only has survived this long by being an ignorant tool of the establishment.

It's also highlighting how unfit this man is for any position he pretends to.  His inability to articulate, to speak clearly just amplifies the fact that when he does speak, nothing he says makes any sense.

Perhaps you like being ruled by morons, but I would rather laugh at and mock them.
