- Barter

Labour-services comes to mind. A "I build your house, you fix my car" kind of thing.

- Trade "off the books"

Where I come from it is called "black labour service," i.e. you pay the building materials "on the books", but pay labour-services "off the books". Or you pay the waitresses "off the books", but the food "on the books".

- Hide trade "on the books"

Imagine a retailer. Some of the retail goods are sold to farmers as "critter candy" and "tarpaulin + accessories", but in reality they are chocolate and toy trampolines respectively. This way the farmer can put it "on the books" as business expences and be exempt from paying sales tax. The same with gas to some extent, i.e. if you have a 10,000 gallon petrol tank for your farm machinery no one will notice if he uses 100 gallons a year to fuel his own, privately owned, car.

That is some of the ways. There are probably a lot more subtle ways Wink

Of couse, agorism isn't a requirement to avoid sales taxes, people have been doing this for years without agorism.

How does one get out of sales tax? That's rather simple.

Most of the sales tax you pay will be in two things on a day-to-day basis. Groceries and gasoline.

Now, I don't know how you can actually get out of the gasoline. It seems difficult to me and I've never ran into anyone promoting a gasoline black market - though I'm sure it exists. But that's ok. You don't have to go all the way to fourth phase action in the first phase! This is what people like the last poster do not understand and it is the reason why they make such little sense on the topic.

As for groceries, however, I'd suggest going to a Farmer's Market. They're all over the world and aside from being revolutionary, buying from a Farmer's market is both cheaper and better for you too!

What's your point?

People have been crashing planes into buildings for years without terrorism...which is about as relevant as your comment.

Home ethanol cookers, veggie oil in diesels, methane, solar/electric, many different choices that are viable today.

The main problem is it is a 'road use tax' which means they will hunt you down if you don't pay it at the pump as some folks have found out.

My point is that the thread was entitled, Agorism Question, and avoiding taxes has been done forever and isn't related to Agorism ideology.

For example, Niccolo's post about not being aware of anyone avoiding gasoline taxes. The russian mob and many others have been smuggling gasoline to avoid taxes for a long time.

That is a good answer. It doesn't have anything to do with ideology.

One would assume that if your asking how to avoid taxes then tax enfocement isn't your primary concern.

It kind of helps to know what taxes you are trying to avoid...

When alternatives like electric cars become more commonplace they will adjust their tax system so one can't avoid paying their 'fair share'.

Siphoning gasoline negates gas tax, but it's not a legal practice.

This has no relevance to anything, much like Jimmy's life.
