besides Ayn Rand. The Captains of industry are very important for the capitalist stage of production and helped construct all types of wonders. There accomplishments were done at the expense of the workers who were often treated poorly, and sometimes massacred if they went on strike. Often times Employers would hire there own private police force in oder to make sure the wokers stayed in there place.
Why did the private sector resort to such practices?
Why did the workers revolt in the first place?
Is this an attempt at trolling or a serious question? If the latter, have you actually read any of the literature Rand recommended? Or Bob Murphy's Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism?

To darkness I condemn you...
no i came here to debate.
Then I recommend you do not preface your OP with "besides Rand" if you have not followed up on her reasons for defending the "robber barons", as if she was some heartless crone who revelled in the suffering of others.
The workers you speak of voluntarily chose to work. They must have judged that they would be better off working for the "robber barons" than starving. What evil people, giving people jobs and a source of income.

are you going to defend this?
Full employment is not considered possible and not everyone can find work, additionaly shouldnt i have the option to not only decide where to work, but also get the chance to decide what conditions i work under.
Yeah. Prove it, then.
You must be confusing communism with the non-communist countries such as the USSR,China, and Cuba. Perhaps you should actually read up on communism.
In any event stop trying to change the subjet, and instead respond to the thread.

I want to work on the moon for 100 million dollars an hour with an army of personal assistants. That sounds great! I think i'll be a socialist now!

If you move in to an apartment, you don't have the right to demand of the landlord that you will only pay him X dollars unless he installs a new bathtub. The landlord will tell you to get out.
Understand?
Fine, let's call it what it was: communism in practice. Or perhaps just socialism. Or perhaps, better yet, failure.

Perhaps you should stop being dishonest and a troll. Look: we all know the standard commie apologetic of "the USSR, China, and Cuba weren't communist". But they are/were. So save it for the uneducated.

I was totally in love with Lisa Hayes when I was a pre-teen.

If you are upset with working conditions at a job, find a new one.
Please don't link me to wiki links pertaining to mainstream garbage that I am well aware of. FYI, the NRU is subsumed under the notion of full employment, except in the Keynesian system - which as you should know, the Austrians object to and have heavily criticized.
Where does the employer get the right to deny his or her workers decent working conditons?
Where does the employer get the right to machine gun his workers if they decide to try and form a union?

You realize that citing wikipedia for anything other than a rudimentary intro to most ideas is poor form, right?
Lisa Hayes:In any event i think it is important to note that employers may provide people jobs, but the robber barons often mistreated there workers.
For the moment, let's just assume that you're correct. Now how were they able to "mistreat" their workers? Why, they had the government to help! In fact, there was one strike that I recall where the US president called out the army to disperse the striking workers. So clearly this isn't a case of capitalism, but of cronyist interventionism.
Not every one can simply afford to quit there job and find a new one. Leaveing one job for another job is not automatic procces.
