Hello all,

I have a lame question about petrol prices.

Here in Portugal, in response to the raising oil prices, the oil companies have raised the Petrol prices a few times during this month.

As a response, a chain-letter email, started circulating proposing a ban on buying Petrol from the top 3 companies for 3 ou 4 days. The e-mail claims that this will force the prices to drop.

Now, this seems to me like a silly idea. I guess that only way to reduce prices would be to reduce consumption, but a 3 day ban would probably make people buy gas elseswhere or even filling the tanks 3 days later and the prices would remain as they were.

Does this make sense? Or this sort of action is able to reduce prices in some way?

thanks!
