"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK", said the leftist Obama.
You know the United States is quickly approaching too-far-gone status when potential presidential candidates can say things like that without being shouted out of the primaries.
Don't allow leftists to play games with definitions! Some of the libertarian-leaning leftists at this forum will try to redefine "left-wing" back to its original defition (Third Estate, limited government, free-markets, laissez-faire reforms, etc.). Fine! We non-leftists can't stop them from using their own personal definitions; they can use whatever labels they want to describe any concept they want. However, they have the audacity to then use their personal definition of "left-wing" (remember, the original definition, which is no longer valid) to prove that modern leftists are more libertarian than modern rightists! They will say that libertarianism is "inherently leftist" (again, using the original, no longer valid definition), and use that to insist that we should prefer and side with modern leftists over modern rightists.
Question their motives.
A shark can be heard jumping in the distance, while the use of twitter goes un-noticed.
I think this shark is much closer than you realize (if I understand your analogy, which I don't)... EDIT: ...swing and a miss!
It scares me to think about how much the state grows when commanded by individuals who aren't so blatantly smug, condescending and controlling; if Obama wins it, we're in for an especially unpleasant eight years.
I think it was scared by the lack of a more verbose OP concerning whether or not this was a potential thread of discussion or someone's gossip column.Kidding aside, wouldn't we be in for another "unpleasent eight years" regardlessof who's in power?
Yes, but there are degrees of unpleasantry!

"Jumping the shark" is a saying that means "over the hill", originating from a Happy Days episode featuring a leather-jacketed Fonz watersking over a shark.

Yikes, I need to spend less time talking to Korean gamers over the internet... my repertoire clearly doesn't prepare me for anything other than playing Starcraft!
Obama speaking to a few fans:
I can only hope most people there are just wondering what all the buzz is about; otherwise, the left is horrifyingly legion; individuals in that crowd alone outnumber radical libertarians worldwide.
Oh dear.

And the purpose of this, aside from preaching to choir, is ...?I don't disagree w/ the troubling aspect of thousands seemingly believing everything Obama says, but it's hardly surprising that such a character would look appealing in the script that is politics when the "villians" (all of them are villians, really), look so much worse to said Obama supporters.
I'm venting, I apologize.
Why do you ask?
Ego: I'm venting, I apologize. Why do you ask?
Well, to me it would just seem a blog be more appropriate to me for said venting. *shrugs* It's not that important though, lol.
Would you rather I end the OP with "thoughts?"?
That's what I've noticed you do when you post a current news story, though I've always felt it was unecessary (people will post their thoughts regardless). In any event, I shouldn't have posted a thread on two and a half hours of sleep!
Oh, you went back and added some more:

A politician drawing crowds of 75,000 is "hardly surprising"? Has this ever happened? It's one thing for individuals (not all of his supporters are leftists, either!) to prefer a radical leftist candidate over the competition; it's another for them to band together and show support in these numbers, especially when that candidate keeps slipping up and revealing his disdain for individual liberty.
I would think that most of them are there for the

The thread eventually developed a purpose, obviously, but it just seemed a bit empty. This is just a pet peeve of mine with forums though, lol. Also, I felt like the detail of individuals seemingly flocking to whomever looks the least evil (in politics) was kind of being ignored & was largley covered before in other topics, so it all seemed a bit pointless to me. Although, that might make for a better thread.
