The purpose of this thread to develop a list of government interventions before the recent bailouts. This is in response to people who claim that there was no government intervention before the government had to bailout the capitalist system.

Off the top of my head:

The Federal Reserve System
The Community Reinvestment Act
Tax laws
Fannie Mae
Freddie Mac
False sense of security with the SEC, FTC, and other government regulatory agencies
The dot-com bailout
The bailout of Long-Term Capital Management
Savings and loan bailout
The Great Depression
Farm subsidies
Energy regulations
Education subsidies
Various invasion and bombings of other countries
