Auntie State:
Calculation debate being Mises' objection to socialism?

Yes, right! Just discuss it as much as possible with people around you, and here in this forum.

Auntie State:
What can I read on the price system?

Shapiro's book is one. Market Theory And The Price System by Israel Kirzner is another. Also try Planned Chaos by Ludwig Mises for a creative analogy to the price system.

Recommendations I have received are for the "Politically Incorrect Guide to the Great Depression and the New Deal" and "Defending the Undefendable", that I believe are related to Economics.  Both can be had in the Mises store.

The Mises store has a link for Beginners, Ten Must Haves, and Best Sellers.  I would check those to see if any interest you.  http://mises.org/store/default.aspx

Hope this helps.

At most, 5% of the population would need to stop complying to bring down the government.

I recommend "Mystery of Banking" by Rothbard.

Money, prices, the banking system, and how the Fed actually operates on a day to day basis.

It's all in there, and it's written in plain English.
